India will start the preparations for their high-profile clash against England in England once the IPL is finished. The subcontinental nation is also scheduled to play in the one-off debut Test of Afghanistan in June which shall be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. India lost the 2011 Test series humiliatingly as they faced a 4-0 whitewash. Back in 2015, they managed to win one Test but lost the series.

With another new Test series to begin soon, playing in county cricket will be extremely beneficial for the Indian team. The most famous example is how Zaheer Khan rediscovered himself while playing for Worcestershire and helped India won the Test series in England in 2006. Taking the clue, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma are already slated to play in England.

There are few other Indian Test players who will benefit extremely by playing in County cricket

Murali Vijay

The 34-year old Tamilnadu opener has become a Test specialist in the last 2-3 years and is solely intent on excelling in the format. After missing out on the first Test versus Sri Lanka, he scored two centuries in the next two Tests. He was one of the major hopes for India on the South African tour.

Unfortunately for Vijay and India, he failed to deliver on the South African soil. His highest score on the tour was only 46 and he averaged only 17 runs in the series. He is not being selected in the matches for CSK also. The much-needed match practice can be gained from the county cricket.

Previously, Murali Vijay has played five Tests in England. He averages 40.2 which is a little better than his overall average of 40. He has a century in his name in England as well. A brief county season will instill the lost confidence in South Africa.
