Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Rangana Herath recently took his international retirement at the age of 40-year-old. Despite making his international cricket debut in 1999, Herath didn’t play many international cricket matches due to he was shadowed under the legendary off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan’s grand success.

After Muralitharan’s retirement, Herath found himself in a new way and utilized that opportunity in a brilliant way to finish his international career with the successful tag. He played 93 Tests, 71 ODIs and 17 T20Is where he took 433 Test wickets (average 28.07), 74 ODI wickets (average 31.91) and 18 T20I wickets (average 20.72).

In this November, after the first Test of the three-match home Test series against England at Galle, Herath announced his retirement from the international cricket. In that game, Herath took three wickets with the overall bowling figure of 48-5-137-3 (25-4-78-1 & 23-1-59-2) and also scored 14* & 5 respectively while England won that game by 211 runs.
