Former India captain, MS Dhoni, and former coach Gary Kirsten have been known for sharing great camaraderie and perhaps that was the reason the duo took India to a World Cup triumph in 2011 and also to the no.1 ranking in Tests. His bond and loyalty with the Indian stalwart made him admit, that Dhoni is one of the most impressive people around.

During a chat on RK show on Youtube, Kirsten said, “One of the most impressive people I have met, he is a great leader of people, he’s got incredible presence as a leader, but the most important thing is that he is loyal”.

Recalling the incidence when the South African staff of the Indian team were not allowed to enter in an event, Kirsten said that Dhoni decided to cancel the whole event.

Recalling the incidence, Garry Kirsten’s aid, “I’ll never forget, just before the World Cup, we were invited in Bangalore to go to the flight school. Obviously, we had a couple of foreigners in our support staff, and everyone was looking forward to the event – that the three South Africans, which were me, Paddy Upton and Eric Simmons, weren’t going to be allowed into the flight school because it was seen as a potential security risk.”H

He further elaborated, “So MS canceled the whole event. He just said, ‘These are my people. If they’re not allowed in, none of us are going’. And that was what he was about.”

Recalling the locality of Dhoni, Kirsten said that MS was very loyal to him as they have had went through some tough times together. He reckons that in those three years, he managed to build a strong relationship with MS Dhoni.
