Gautam Gambhir Feels RCB Will Got For Glenn Maxwell In IPL Auction

Former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir reckons that the Indian Premier League (IPL) feels that Royal Challengers Bangalore may go after Glenn Maxwell in the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. The former KKR skipper reckons that Glenn Maxwell will still earn big, despite his indifferent returns in the IPL thus far.

Maxwell has listed his base price at INR 2 crore for the IPL 2021 auction as he was earlier released by Kings XI Punjab. Maxwell had scored 108 runs at a strike-rate of 101.88 from 13 matches in the previous edition. During a chat on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir pointed out that teams like KXIP and RCB will be looking for a proper balance in their squad.

Gautam Gambhir had said, “There will be a couple of teams who will be eager to go into the auctions and buy the players they want. There is Kings XI Punjab, there is RCB, who will be looking to get some players to get their balance right. These sides will be very, very active in the auctions. There are teams who will be looking at someone like Maxwell. Surely, RCB will be looking at him. That is my personal opinion. But I feel Maxwell will go to RCB.”

Gambhir was also of the opinion that looking at the entire batting line-up RCB, Virat Kohli will definitely be looking to open the batting, as he has been quite successful at that position. On the other hand, Devdutt Padikkal has done very, very well for the franchise in IPL 2020. hen they have got AB de Villiers, and then they can have someone like Maxwell – the X factor.

Elaborating the same, Gautam Gambhir concluded, “And at Chinnaswamy, where he has done very well. Whenever he has played at Chinnaswamy, he has won games for Australia. So, I think, Maxwell will go to RCB. Depending on how much RCB will give for him, but I feel he would go for a lot of money.”
