Former India captain Gautam Gambhir has announced that he will step down from his position as mentor of the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Gambhir, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles as captain, joined LSG as their mentor in 2022. During his time at the franchise, LSG qualified for the playoffs in both seasons 2022 and 2023.
In a heartfelt post on his official social media handle, Gambhir expressed his gratitude to the players, coaches, support staff, and management of LSG for their support during his time at the franchise. He also thanked LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka for his “inspiring leadership” and his support throughout his tenure.

While stepping away from LSG, Gambhir is set to return to his former team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Kolkata Knight Riders CEO, Venky Mysore, confirmed Gambhir’s re-inclusion in the team as a mentor.
