Gautam Gambhir Warns Indians on Twitter

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir took to social media platform Twitter to share messages with his followers. The cricketer-turned-politician shared warning with potential offenders of the governmental guidelines,  The Delhite on Monday tweeted that the people who break the government’s quarantine guidelines and step out of the house can either choose to stay safe or go into jail.

He said all this amid the outbreak of CoronaVirus and with a desire to stop people from moving out to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday, the whole of India was on a complete lockdown as Narendra Modi’s initiative of a ‘Janata Curfew’  with all the people staying inside the home as a way to tackle the outbreak of Covid-19 virus across the nation.

However, once the curfew ended at 9 pm, some people took to the streets and traveled in big groups which are the complete opposite of what they were supposed to do.

Gambhir said in his tweet, ” Khud bhee jayenge aur parivaar ko bhee leke jayenge, quarantine or jail (either you go to quarantine with family or you go to jail. Don’t be a threat to society. We are fighting for our existence, not for our livelihood. Follow the government’s lockdown guidelines.”

The whole of the world is suffering from the spread of COvid 19 virus with many counties on complete lockdown. the virus has affected more than 381,700 people leading to more than 16,000 deaths worldwide according to worldometers.info.  Around 19 Indian states have announced to b in complete lockdown with people staying indoors as much as possible.

India’s apex cricketing body the BCCI also took to Twitter and shared, “If you ever dreamed of playing for millions around the world, now is your chance.”
