Legendary Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar has been commentation in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and on Thursday, however, Gavaskar made a comment on Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper came out to bat in the second innings against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) that left the Twitterverse unimpressed.
At teh end of the match, RCB suffered a loss by 97 runs against KXIP. While Rahul stole the show in the game, Kohli attracted plenty of criticism as he dropped a couple of catches of the Punjab skipper twice en route to his record-breaking knock of 132 runs. While it was arguably one of the rare matches where fans saw Virat making mistakes on the field, Gavaskar’s comments on air during the match were interpreted as ‘over critical’ by fans.
The original Little Master allegedly said: “Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki hain”. (Virat Kohli has only trained against Anushka’s bowling during the lockdown). The comment understood to be made keeping the viral video in mind where Kohli was seen playing cricket with Anushka at his Mumbai home during the lockdown. Gavaskar’s words were misinterpreted on the Twitterverse, however, it varied from person to person.
The comment was deemed unjust and woeful by several fans on Twitter, with many criticized Gavaskar for the choice of words by a great like Gavaskar. However, the comment seems to have been blown out of proportion. Here’s the video of the phase of the match where Gavaskar could be heard making the comment on air:

Reacting to Gavaskar’s comment, Anushka Sharma responded saying, ” Mr. Gavaskar your message is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game? I am sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. ”
Virat Kohli had a forgettable day at the field and would be looking to make a strong comeback as quickly as possible. He dropped KXIP skipper, KL Rahul twice and the latter made sure that RCB pays for it as he was dropped he was playing at the scores of 83 and 89 and then he amassed 132 off just 69 balls. he RCB captain managed to score just 1 before being sent back by Sheldon Cottrell.
