Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell come out on the social media trolls after RCB suffered a four-wicket loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Eliminator of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. With the loss, the Challengers’ campaign ended in the 14th edition of the tournament, and the match was also happened to be Virat Kohli’s last as the skipper of the team.
Maxwell failed to do much for his team against KKR on October 11. The veteran got out to Sunil Narine after scoring 15 at under a run-a-ball and couldn’t get a wicket in the three overs he bowled. Glenn Maxwell was surprised by the reaction of trolls and he termed it ” absolutely disgusting”. Maxwell didn’t forget to express gratitude to the more respectful fans, who supported the team throughout the tournament.

Glenn Maxwell wrote, “Some of the garbage that has been following on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse.”

Maxwell also added, “Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all! Unfortunately there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!! Please don’t be like them.”

Apart from Maxwell, all-rounder Dan Christian also witnessed a flurry of abuse on social media platforms. The netizens didn’t even spare his partner, who ended up facing brickbats as well. Thereafter, Christian urged the fans to not resort to abuse.

Dan Christian had said, “I didn’t have a great game tonight, but that’s a sport. However, please leave her out of it.” Christian had a tough time in Sharjah against KKR. He conceded as many as 29 runs off 1.4 overs and had to bear the brunt of Narine’s power-hitting during the Knight Riders’ run-chase.
