Glen Maxwell has been a great addition for RCB in this year’s IPL as the Bangalore franchise looks very well settled from every aspect of the game. Maxwell was bought by RCB for 14.25 crores after an intense bidding war with CSK and some other franchises. He seemed a very happy man after his selection as his performance reflects that in the first game of the Bangalore team this edition.

Recently, Maxwell shared the story of how actually Adam Zampa and Virat Kohli helped him got picked in the auction for RCB. Glenn while speaking in a video posted by RCB’s social media team on Twitter explained Zampa gave the RCB cap a day before the auction to Maxwell and then he took the picture of it and later sent it to Virat Kohli.

There’s actually a funny story. The day of the auction, it was at night time in New Zealand. We were training while in quarantine in New Zealand. Adam Zampa had his RCB hat in his bag, so he took it out and made sure we had a photo. He sent it to Virat and said ‘Let’s get it over the line. Congratulations I have already given him his first cap,” Maxwell revealed.

The Australian all-rounder further said that had he would have not been picked by RCB, things would have turned completely off route and added that Virat also termed both the guys Zampa and him as idiots after he received the picture.

That was before the auction, so it all happened pretty well. It would have looked pretty silly if it didn’t work out that way. He put the picture on afterward but we took the photo before the auction. Virat said you guys are idiots (after Zampa sent Virat Kohli the picture),” Maxwell added.

Glenn Maxwell looked in tremendous form in the tournament opener for RCB and the franchise would hope he would carry the same form ahead in other games for the team.
