The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be commencing on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, some of the overseas players will be missing the initial match, especially from Australia as they will be joining after the completion of their England tour. Speaking about the Aussies, power-striker Glenn Maxwell, who will be playing again for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has come up with his ‘Best IPL XI’.
During a recent conversation with the veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, Maxwell revealed his ‘Best IPL XI’ and had a doubt in including David Warner and Virat Kohli as his openers. Warner has amassed 4706 runs in IPL and he is the highest run-scorer amongst foreign players, while Kohli with 5412 runs under his belt is the overall leading run-scorer in the history of IPL.

Kohli’s partner-in-crime in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) AB de Villiers and spinal cord of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Suresh Raina, have been preferred at No.3 and No.4 positions by Maxwell in his XI. For the next spot, the Victorian all-rounder picked himself.
When it comes to all-rounders, after himself, Maxwell decided to pick Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) superstar Andre Russell, while the wicket-keeper’s slot has been occupied by none other than CSK captain. MS Dhoni. However, Glenn Maxwell decided not to name any contain his side.
Interestingly, Maxwell decided to pick all the Indian bowlers only. For the pacers, he trusted Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshkumar Kumar and Mohit Sharma. Whereas, the 31-year-old picked Harbhajan Singh as the only spinner in his squad.

Bhuvneshwar has grabbed 133 wickets – sixth-most by any bowler in the history of IPL. At the same time, Bumrah has managed to scalp 82 wickets in 77 matches. In comparison, Bhajji with 150 scalps is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL.
