Speaking of Maxwell’s recent cricket performance, he had a challenging time in the Vitality Blast 2023. He scored only 248 runs in 14 matches at an average of 17.71 and failed to register a single fifty during his stint with Birmingham.
Prior to ‘The Hundred’ tournament, Maxwell decided to withdraw, citing workload management. Cricket Australia released a statement, mentioning the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup and the need for players to be fresh for the mega ICC event.
Similarly, Mitchell Marsh also withdrew from ‘The Hundred,’ leaving the London Spirit in search of two replacement players. The tournament will commence on August 1, with the final match scheduled at Lord’s Cricket Ground on August 27.
Meanwhile, Australia is gearing up for the crucial 2023 ODI World Cup in India, commencing on October 5. Their campaign will begin against the host team India on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The selection committee is expected to announce the squad for the global ICC event a month before the competition starts.
