Former Australia seamer, Glenn McGrath said that Hardik Pandya is a ‘luxury’ to have for any team, keeping in mind the latter all-rounder’s abilities. Pandya is currently featuring in the Indian squad for the 5-match T20I series against the West Indies and has been excellent ever since he made his national comeback in the five-match series against South Africa at home. He scored his maiden T20I half-century in England and picked up two four-wicket hauls on the English tour.
Elaborating the same, as per the quotes in India Today, Glenn McGrath opined, “Cricket is very much a confidence sport. Hardik is very much a confidence player. If he is bowling well, it has a positive impact on his batting. He is two players in one. He is a luxury. He is a good, intelligent bowler and powerful hitter. He has got a good game plan.”

Hardik was dropped from Team India after he failed to do much for the team in the T20 World Cup 2021. However, after leading Gujarat Titans to glory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, he has well and truly been able to make amends.
Glenn McGrath also shared his opinions on the recent talks about the sustainability of ODI cricket. The veteran said that Test cricket needs to be protected and kept his fingers crossed regarding the future of ODI cricket at the international level.

Glenn McGrath explained, “I am very much a traditionalist. I liked Tests, I liked my ODIs. Test cricket is still the ultimate to me. I hope that it is protected and still held in high regard. As for the ODIs, it is still exciting as long as they are scoring runs. Interesting to see the future (of ODIs) and see where it goes. They have got to keep making it (ODIs) exciting. They have got a few challenges.”
