New Zealand is in commanding position after day 2 of Wellington Test against West Indies, where they already have a lead of 313 runs. All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme was the star of their innings with a lightning-quick ton.

Zimbabwe-born player went to notch up the second fastest ton by any Kiwi in just 71 balls, which includes 11 fours and 3 sixes.

After day’s game, opponent Windies compared him with their swashbuckling batsmen Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.

Miguel Cummins was very impressed with his big-hitting ability and said “Andre Russell hits the ball very hard, Chris Gayle hits the ball very hard. He’s up there.”

Cummins believes that they will do better in the second innings. “The guys are really pumped up about batting again. They know where they fell down in the first innings and they’re looking to make amends in the second,” he added.

Meanwhile, Grandhomme was pleased with this knock and said his team is in commanding position. “We’re in a really good position at the moment. I know it’s a milestone but for me, it just keeps batting the way you’re going. Because I’d already got to 90 there’s not a big difference between 90 and 100 for me,” said all-rounder.

Kiwi team dismissed the visitors at a mere 134 with help of a sensation bowling spell from Neil Wegner. At the stumps of the second day, NZ managed 447 for 9 and they are eyeing to wind the game on day three.
