Arjun Tendulkar will be featuring in the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad as the franchise shelved ₹30 lakhs to attain the services of the all-rounder. As Arjun’s name popped up in the final hours of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega-auction, it was all but expected that no one will bid for him apart from MI and they made an opening bid of ₹20 lakhs.

While MI seemed to believe they had roped in the left-arm seamer at his base price, Gujarat Titans, unexpectedly, made a second bid of ₹25 lakhs. In an attempt to make MI spend more from their auction purse, the Titans’ strategy worked as the Mumbai based-franchise now made a bid of ₹30 lakhs.

Eventually, MI got their man as Arjun Tendulkar was sold to them for ₹30 lakhs. Interestingly, the 22-year-old will be mentored by his father and legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Notably, Arjun last year was bought by MI for ₹20 lakhs, but he did not play a single match in the IPL 2021. He is selected in Mumbai’s squad for the nearing Ranji season and is likely to make his debut.

MI heavily indulged in the bidding war on Day 2 of the mega-auction. Apart from Arjun, the team spent a whopping amount of Rs. 8 crores to add fiery pacer Jofra Archer to their squad. However, he will not be available for the upcoming IPL season.

Tymal Mills and Riley Meredith will also be playing for MI as they spend ₹1.50 crores and ₹1 crore respectively on the pacers. Youngster Tilak Verma was bought by the franchise for ₹1.7 crores.
