In their important clash of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (2018/19 BPL), the defending champions Rangpur Riders thrashed the three-time BPL champions Dhaka Dynamites at Chattogram, thanks to dominating batting by Alex Hales and AB de Villiers.
On Monday night, Dhaka Dynamites decided to bat first after winning the toss. In their first batting, they managed to score 186/6 at the end of 20 overs. While the opener Sunil Narine (28 off 19 balls) provided his familiar attacking start, Rony Talukder carried the innings and scored a brilliant half-century.

Talukder scored 52 runs off 32 balls (6 fours and only six) and settled the team for a challenging total. Also in the middle-orders, there were some fiery knocks. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan scored 25 off 12 balls (4 fours) while Andre Russell scored 14 off 8 balls (only four and only six). In the late moment, Kieron Pollard played a very important knock of unbeaten 37 off 23 balls (5 fours and only six).
Among the Rangpur bowlers, Farhad Reza (2/32) bagged two wickets while the skipper Mashrafe Mortaza (1/30), Nazmul Islam (1/35), Shafiul Islam (1/35) and Shahidul Islam (1/26) picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Rangpur had a very disappointing start as they lost their first two wickets inside the first two overs of the innings. Both wickets were taken by Andre Russell in his first over of the match as he dismissed the opener Chris Gayle (1) and the no.3 batsman Rilee Rossouw (0) in the back-to-back two deliveries.

Struggling on 5/2, another opener Alex Hales and the former South Africa star cricketer AB de Villiers played the marvelous innings to secure a comfortable victory for the team. From that difficult situation, both remained intact in the crease until the end of the game. They had the record of third highest partnership in the BPL history for any wicket as Hales and de Villiers put the 184-run partnership for the unbroken third wicket.
While Hales remained not out on 85 off 53 balls (8 fours and 3 sixes), AB de Villiers played the giant knock of unbeaten 100 of 50 balls (8 fours and 6 sixes). While the Rangpur side earned the important two points, AB won the Player of the Match award.
