Hamstring injury ruled Liam Plunkett out from NZ ODIs

England medium-pacer Liam Plunkett has been ruled out from the One-Day International series against New Zealand following a hamstring injury. Also, he will not take a part in the Trans-Tasman T20I series involving Australia as the third nation.

Plunkett is key in England’s success in limited-over cricket.

Plunkett sustained this injury during the third One-Day game against Australia and left the field after just eight deliveries of his quota at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Thus, he was ruled out from the next two ODIs as well as the first leg of T20I series in Australia.

According to the reports in the British Broadcast Council (BBC), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has ruled him out from the five-match ODI series, which will commence from February 25.

However, star all-rounder Ben Stokes is back in the English ranks and can play from this ODI series. This will be his first assignment after involving in a brawl outside a nightclub in Bristol on September 24. His last international game was third ODI game against West Indies.

England has been in excellent form in the ODI cricket and humiliated Australia in their most recent ODI assignment, where they beat the hosts by 4-1 to lift the Gillette ODI series trophy.
