Peter Handscomb is not so worried about his place in the Australian Test XI despite an excellent outing by Mitchell Marsh, who replaced him in the squad for Perth Test. Handscome is also very confident with his batting technique and feels he will receive a call-up in Melbourne Test.

“We’ll wait and see what happens with the squad. I hope so. I’ve got to wait and see what the selectors say, we’ve got a couple of training sessions before the Test as well,” he said.

Marsh scored a career-best 181 runs in Australia’s only innings in Perth Test. In the process, he stitched a massive 301-run partnership with his skipper Steve Smith. Thus, he rang danger tune for Handscomb, who has not impressed in the ongoing Ashes so far.

However, Handscomb is very confident about his batting technique. “I’m quite confident in my batting. I was seeing it quite well in Brisbane and unfortunately just missed a ball on the stumps, then in Adelaide I was batting in two difficult times at night and the ball was doing plenty there,” he added.

“I’m not too worried about my technique or anything. It’s amazing what can come out when you have one bad Test – albeit in tough conditions. I’m not worried about my game. I know I can play well and I know how tough Test cricket is.”

Comparing himself with Jr. Marsh, the Victorian quoted “I can’t bowl, Mitch can bowl and on a Perth wicket it can be a long fielding innings. We won the Test and the Ashes, so no issues there. You can always understand it. It sucks sitting on the sidelines but it’s still awesome to be a part of the squad.”

Australia is 3-0 up in the Ashes and already regained the urn and their next target will be to replicate on their performance during last Ashes Down Under. Both teams will lock horn in the Melbourne Test, scheduled to start on Boxing-day.
