During a recent conversation with Rohit Sharma on Instagram Live, the veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said that the current Indian team has a lot of dependency on captain Virat Kohli and his deputy in shorter formats, Rohit himself. Bhajji further went on to claim that the team also lacks self-belief which can often be seen when the aforementioned duo is dismissed early.
Harbhajan shared his views when Rohit asked him to compare the Indian teams of the past and present. He explained, “The current Indian side is dependent on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The side does not have much confidence, there are good players but once Virat and Rohit get out, 70 percent of matches we tend to lose. There is a lack of self-belief.”

He further added, “In our times, we had a lot of trust and belief. If the top three of the current Indian side are dismissed, then we have problems in winning matches, you need to find more watch winners. You had a good World Cup, but then you lose in the semi-finals, if you had 3-4 guys performing, we would have won the World Cup.”
On the other hand, when Rohit was asked by his fans on Instagram about the uncertainty over the future of MS Dhoni, the opener said that he doesn’t have any idea about it. Dhoni has been on a sabbatical from competitive cricket since India’s World Cup 2019 exit in July last year.
The IPL was looked at as a potential comeback vehicle for Dhoni as the team management, including head coach Ravi Shastri, did not rule out chances of his return to the national squad.

Talking about Doni further, Rohit said, “You can’t go now but after the lockdown, you take a car, bike or flight go to his place and ask him ‘What are you going to do? Will you play or not?’ We don’t know what’s happening with him. We haven’t heard any news about him. The last match of the World Cup was in July. From there, till now we haven’t heard anything I have no idea.”
