The veteran Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh reckons that the Indian opener, Rohit Sharma will be scoring a lot of runs in the upcoming Test series against Australia which is scheduled to be commencing in Adelaide from December 17. Labeling Rohit as a very important player for Team India, Harbhajan said if the Hitman stays at the crease for 5 overs at the start and sees off the new ball then Australian bowlers will find it difficult to get him out. t will become very difficult for the Aussie bowling attack.
Rohit’s Test career got a major boost after he became the second opener in the series against South Africa late last year. He scored back-to-back centuries in the Vizag Test before smashing his maiden double hundred in the final match of the series in Ranchi.

As per the quotes in India Today, Harbhajan said, “Rohit Sharma is a quality player. Expectations from him will be high, fans will be hoping he scores as many runs in Australia as he did in Test cricket as an opener on home soil in the recent past. If he stays at the crease for the first 5 overs then dismissing him or even stopping him becomes very difficult because he is a very dangerous player. Scoring runs in Australia shouldn’t be too difficult for a batsman like Rohit.”
Rohit is recuperating from a hamstring injury and Harbhajan Singh is hoping that the 5-time IPL-winning captain gets fit in time for the Border-Gavaskar series and starts firing from the first Test itself in Australia. Harbhajan even compared Rohit with former India opener Virender Sehwag, who was destructive at the top of the order in red-ball cricket.
Harbhajan elaborated, “Facing the new ball will be important, if he plays it well then India can expect quick runs from Rohit’s bat, just like Virender Sehwag did for the team as opener. Rohit is a very important player for the team and I hope he gets fit in time for the first Test.”
