Harbhajan Singh Officially Announces opting Out Of IPL 2020

The veteran Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner, Harbhajan Singh has become the second player after Suresh Raina to opt-out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Friday. Harbhajan took to Twitter where he officialy confirmed that he will not be taking part in this year’s IPL due to personal reasons. The off-spinner said these are difficult times with coronavirus cases rapidly increasing in India and urged his fans to give him some privacy as he is looking to spend time with his family.

Tweeting about the same, Harbhajan wrote: “Dear Friends I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL Stay safe and Jai Hind”.

The 13th edition of the IPL had to move out of the country due to the moved out of India due to the increasing cases of coronavirus in the country.

The three-time IPL champions had reached UAE along with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on August 21. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, CSK held a brief training camp in Chennai before leaving for the UAE and were the only team to do so.

Suresh Raina, the deputy skipper of CSK, has come back to India citing personal reasons. However, in a recent interview, the left-handed batsman mentioned that fans might see him in the IPL 2020.

India’s money-spinner is scheduled to start on September 19 and the final will be played on November 10. All the matches will be played across three venues — Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. All the matches will be played across three venues in the UAE — Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
