Harbhajan Singh Will Not Be boarding UAE Flight On Friday?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be leaving for the United States of Emirates (UAE) on Friday but veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will not be boarding the flight sighting some personal reasons. He can be expected to join the squad within two weeks. The 40-year-old spinner also didn’t take part in the brief training camp that CSK conducted in Chennai.

Informing about the same to PTI on Thursday, a CSK official said, “Harbhajan will not be traveling with the team to Dubai due to personal reasons. He is expected to join the squad in two weeks.”

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan had confirmed that the MS Dhoni-led side will be leaving for UAE on August 21. The team would leave for Dubai on Friday at around 12.45 pm, the official said. However, the veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur had also missed the camp due to personal reasons, as informed by the official.

Thakur joined the squad on Wednesday while Jadeja is expected to joining the franchise later on Thursday. The players have been training in Chennai since August 15 under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji for IPL beginning September 19.

On Tuesday, the CSK players were tested for Covid-19 for the second time and all the players came out negative. The 13th edition of the IPL will be played for 53 days, between September 19 and November 10, across three venues in UAE — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai.

Informing about the same in a press release, BCCI had stated, “IPL 2020 will be played from September 19 and the final will be played on November 10, 2020. The 53-day tournament will witness 10-afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST.”
