The entire world is slowly moving towards a lockdown due to the scare of the ever-escalating situation concerning the World Health Organisation-recognized pandemic that is the Coronavirus. Everything- schools, colleges, airports, railway stations, gyms, sporting events, movies, offices- have been put under lockdown as the world continues to self-isolate in order to control the pandemic.
In the wake of the escalating situation, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation last week where he asked his fellow countrymen to observe ‘Janta ka Curfew’ on Sunday, March 22. The PM had also asked Indian people to thank the medical professionals and everyone who is working day and night against the pandemic.
The appeal received an overwhelming response from each and every corner of India as millions of people walked of life coming to their balconies at 5:00 PM to express their gratitude and solidarity with all those medical professionals around the world who are fighting tooth and nail against the pandemic.

Swashbuckling Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, along with his brother Krunal and his wife and the formers fiance Natasa Stankovic took to Instagram where Hardik posted a video where they could be seen hailing medical staff and other professionals for their exemplary work.
Captioning the video, Hardik wrote: “Salute to all the medical staff and other emergency personnel who are fighting the virus selflessly. We are forever indebted to you. You are the real hero.”

Meanwhile, the situation around COVID-19 is steadily escalating and people are being advised to stay indoors and avoid any social gathering. The number of cases in India had risen to 396 till Sunday, as per the data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

With the situation escalating with every passing day, it is very unlikely that the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League will take place. The tournament, which was scheduled to start from March 29, was postponed up until April 15th. The final decision on the same is likely to be taken on March 24 with BCCI set to hold talks with all the stakeholders via video conference.
