After facing a demoralizing loss in the Hamilton ODI by 8 wickets, Team India was raring to make a comeback in the final ODI against New Zealand. However, the similar situation occurred in Wellington as well, as the Indian team was reduced to 18/4. However, Team India finished the innings with the score of 252 and a lot of credit for the same goes to the ferocious batting display of Hardik Pandya and a strong partnership between Ambati Rayudu and Vijay Shankar.

Rayudu and Shankar amassed 98 runs for the 5th wicket and it gave sufficient room for a comeback to the Indian team. However, the Rayudu started toying with the bowlers after the 35th over and the best testimonies of the same came in the 40th and 47th overs when he smacked two huge sixes to Colin Munro and Hardik smashed a hat-trick of sixes against Todd Astle.

On the second ball of the 42nd over, Astle bowler a back of the length delivery on the middle stump and Hardik made the best of the opportunity given to him to launch the ball over mid-wicket for a huge six. The next ball was full outside off and Pandya decided to go inside out over the extra cover boundary, but he mistimed it, however, it was enough power in the shot that he bisected the boundary riders and cleared them comfortably.

Since, Champions Trophy 2017, it has been a habit for Pandya to smack hat-trick of the sixes to spinners in the slog over and hence, Astle became the 5th spinner to be on the receiving end this time as Pandya has already completed hat-trick of sixes against Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Malinda Pushpakumara and Adam Zampa with the first two coming in the CT 2017 itself.

Pandya completed the hat-trick with a huge six over mid-wicket. Astles again bowled a fuller length ball on the middle stump and Hardik was good enough to clear the boundary on such deliveries.
