Prior to this game, Dhoni had showcased impressive form in the death overs, amassing 110 runs in 47 balls with an array of boundaries and sixes. However, his innings against Punjab Kings saw an unexpected conclusion as Harshal Patel deceived him with a well-disguised slower yorker.

Entering the crease in the 19th over of the CSK innings, Dhoni aimed to provide the finishing touches. However, Harshal’s clever variation proved too much to handle for the seasoned campaigner, as he mistimed his shot, resulting in the ball sneaking under the bat and crashing into the stumps.

Despite Dhoni’s dismissal, CSK managed to post a competitive total of 167 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja emerging as the top scorer with 43 runs off 26 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali also contributed with scores of 32 and 30 respectively.
