It was in the sixth over that Rana reaped the rewards of his persistence, dismissing the experienced Mayank Agarwal. The dismissal, however, was not the end of the spectacle. Mayank Agarwal, who contributed a brisk 32 off 21 deliveries, was visibly taken aback by Rana’s fiery response. While many lauded Rana’s passionate display, cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed dissent.

On-air, Sunil Gavaskar criticized Rana’s conduct, deeming it unnecessary and unsportsmanlike. He emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum on the field, particularly in the age of televised cricket, urging players to celebrate with their teammates without resorting to provocative gestures towards the opposition.

Sunil Gavaskar said, “He should not have done that. Did the batsman do anything to him when he was hitting him for sixes? Cricket can be played without these antics. It’s the age of television. I understand that. Celebrate with your teammates but no need for such antics for the opposition.”
