MS Dhoni has been the backbone of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. On Sunday, he captained CSK to their third IPL title in a thrilling contest at the Wankhede Stadium. Apart from his leadership skills, he also contributed with his bat and played some jaw-dropping knocks to guide his team over the line on a few occasions.

The men in yellow played some brilliant cricket and brushed aside the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets in the Grand Finale. Dhoni wore jersey number seven and mentioned it to be his lucky number following his team’s dominating win. Co-incidentally, Dhoni’s birthday is also on the seventh day of the seventh month of the calendar year (July 7).

During the post-match presentation ceremony of the IPL 2018 final, MS said, “Every win is special, so I can’t compare this with our other wins. A lot of people talk about numbers, statistics, so tonight’s 27th, my jersey number is 7, and this was our seventh final.”

SRH’s bowling spearheads, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the Chennai batsmen found a sensible way of playing them out. Meanwhile, they went after the others and approached the target in a methodical manner. Most importantly, they didn’t panic in the course of the match despite a few quiet overs in the start of their run-chase. The wicket-keeper batsman also mentioned about the same in his chat.

While praising his team, Dhoni said, “I thought it was a great batting effort tonight. You have to keep in mind that Bhuvi is as deceptive as Rashid, so it’s not only one bowler in their side that could’ve put pressure on us. We always had the belief that we had the firepower in the middle overs.”
