The Hindu Mahasabha has announced a bandh in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, scheduled for October 6, in opposition to the India-Bangladesh T20 cricket match set to take place in the city. The organization’s protest is rooted in what it claims are ongoing “atrocities” against Hindus in Bangladesh. Jaiveer Bharadwaj, the national vice president of the Hindu Mahasabha, addressed reporters, emphasizing that the outfit does not believe it is appropriate for India to engage in sporting events with Bangladesh while these alleged injustices continue.

Jaiveer  Bharadwaj stated, “The Hindu Mahasabha is firmly against the match taking place on October 6. As a form of protest, we have called for a ‘Gwalior Bandh’ on the same day. Essential services, however, will not be affected by the bandh.” In addition to their stance on the cricket match, the Hindu Mahasabha expressed outrage over a recent controversy involving the laddus served at the Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Bharadwaj demanded capital punishment for those responsible for the alleged “adulteration” of the laddus, which are a sacred offering at the temple. He noted that these laddus were distributed during the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, further intensifying the gravity of the issue in the eyes of the Mahasabha.

The controversy surrounding the Tirupati laddus began when it was revealed that substandard ghee was allegedly used in their preparation. India’s food safety regulator has since issued a show cause notice to a Tamil Nadu-based company accused of supplying the ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the temple’s governing body. Allegations even suggested the potential use of animal fat in the laddus, causing a significant uproar.

In response to growing demands for a thorough investigation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. The SIT will be tasked with determining the veracity of the claims and ensuring that appropriate legal action is taken if the accusations are proven true.
