On Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the suspension of Ambati Rayudu from bowling in international cricket. Earlier after reported for a suspect action, he was expected to submit to a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days after being reported for a suspect action, but he failed to do and hence, he has been suspended with immediate effect in accordance with clause 4.2 of the ICC regulations, which can be found here.
Rayudu will remain suspended until he is tested, and can demonstrate he is able to bowl with a legal action. On January 13, he was reported for a suspect action during the first One-Day International of their series against Australia in Sydney.
However, according to Article 11.5 of the Regulations and with the consent of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rayudu may be allowed to bowl in domestic cricket events played under the jurisdiction of the BCCI.

Rayudu last bowled during the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). He rolled his arms overs for a couple of overs and gave away 13 runs. Parking aside his bowling attributes, he also has had a struggling time with the bat in hand. Previously, the Indian team management said that he would be a trusted member of the team for the number four slot for the World Cup in England and Wales.
He was impressive in the ODI series against the Windies. However, he couldn’t quite turn it on against the Aussies. Following two failures in Sydney and Adelaide, the Guntur-born was dropped for the decider at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). MS Dhoni replaced him at number four and played a match-winning knock of 87 to see his team through.
Nevertheless, Rayudu played the first three match against New Zealand and didn’t flatter to deceive by any stretch of the imagination.
