ICC Unveils $10 Million Prize Pool For ODI World Cup 2023

The ODI World Cup 2023 is just days away, and the world’s top 10 teams will compete for a total prize pool of $10 million (approx. ₹84 crore). The winner of the tournament will take home $4 million (approx. ₹33 crore), while the runner-up will receive $2 million (approx. ₹16.5 crore). All 10 participating teams will also receive prize money for winning their Group Stage matches, at a rate of $40,000 per win. Teams that fail to qualify for the knockout stages will still receive $100,000.

This year’s prize money pool is identical to the 2019 ODI World Cup, and sets the precedent for the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, which will also have equal prize money for both men’s and women’s events.

The ODI World Cup 2023 will begin on October 5, with the finalists of the previous season, England and New Zealand, going head-to-head in Ahmedabad. The Indian cricket team will play its first match against Australia on October 8 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The warm-up matches will begin on September 29, and India will play two practice matches against England and the Netherlands before entering the Group Stages on October 8.
