In-form Birmingham Phoenix had put up a huge 185 run target following the fifties from Will Smeed and Moeen Ali. Meanwhile, Welsh Fire lost their first wicket with the seventh delivery and never bounced back in the game while chasing. Imran Tahir then dismissed Glenn Phillips and Leus du Plooy in his initial spell.

Both the dismissals reduced the chasing side to 55-4 after 40 balls. With the target seemed out of reach for Welsh Fire, a win was certain for Phoenix as well. However, to make things best for his side, Imran Tahir dismissed the tailenders in three consecutive deliveries. And, being the oldest player of the tournament, at 42 years old, he has become the first player to claim a hat-trick as well.

He brought up the first wicket of his hat-trick by removing Qais Ahmed. He tossed the delivery up with flight which the batsman tried to go for a slog but got a top edge that was safely taken by Smeed. Imran Tahir next bowled an arm ball straight at the stumps where the new batsman Matt Milnes tried to paddle sweep but got trapped before the stumps and got out.

For the hat-trick delivery, Imran Tahir bowled a googly that breached the gap of the bat and pad and crashed into the middle stump. And, after that, a grand celebration was seen from the spinner as well. He was seen running from the field to the boundary ropes and soaked in the celebrations from the crowd in Birmingham. Notably, the franchise is currently at the top of the points table with 8 points in their name. They will face second-placed Trent Rockets in their next game as well.
