Chasing a moderate 127, Australia had a disastrous start as they lost Marcus Stoinis in the second over itself, who promoted to open the innings before Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Aaron Finch on the first ball of the third over to reduce Australia to 5 for 2. However, before the hosts could further make damage in the game, D’Arcy Short and Glenn Maxwell stitched 84 runs for the third wicket.
India finally managed to break the partnership as Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Maxwell for 56 to end the crucial stand. Australia were well on top when Maxwell departed. With 29 runs needed off the last five overs and seven wickets in hand, but the game turned upside down in the 16th over of Umesh Yadav as he gave away just three runs and Short was also run-out in that same over. Jasprit Bumrah then bowled a superb penultimate over, conceding just two runs while dismissing Peter Handscomb and Nathan Coulter-Nile on back-to-back delivery.

However, Umesh Yadav could not stop Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins from scoring the 14 runs in the final over.
Earlier in the game, the Australian bowlers delivered as per the expectations and restricted the hosts to a modest total of 126 for 7. Asked to bat first, India were off to a scratchy start as their in-form opener Rohit Sharma could score just five before returning back to the pavilion. The flamboyant opener, KL Rahul along with Virat Kohli then hit a flurry of boundaries to bring India back on track. However, before the duo could bat India to a solid position before Adam Zampa dismissed Kohli.

The Men in Blue lost wickets at regular intervals after Virat’s dismissal which never allowed them to get the momentum back. Rahul scored a half-century on his comeback game but the likes of Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya failed to contribute
Dhoni held firm from one end but with no one to support from the other, he just could not score fast and ended up scoring 29 off 35 balls. For Australia, Nathan Coulter-Nile was the most successful bowler, picking up 3 for 26.

Full credit to Australia for taking a nothing-game, making it into a something-game, and then handing it to Umesh Yadav who beyond all expectations pushed it to the last ball.#IndvAus

Had No doubt that one bowler who could made India loose from a position of 14 runs required in 1 over and with tailenders on crease would be Umesh Yadav. And he did it. Don't know what to say. 😶☹️
