Ind vs WI (Second Test): India comfortably wins after Windies batting collapse

Windies skipper Jason Holder’s brilliant bowling to restrict the hosts India to 367 runs in their first innings of Hyderabad Test went in vain as the visitors suffered a 10-wicket defeat after a huge batting collapse.

Starting the day three on the overnight score 308/4, India’s first innings ended quickly on 367 runs. Rishabh Pant again missed his century as he scored 92 off 134 balls (11 fours and 2 sixes) while Ajinkya Rahane scored 80 off 183 balls (7 balls). The fifth-wicket partnership between Rahane and Pant went for 152 before Rahane was dismissed. At the end of the innings, Ravichandran Ashwin added 35 runs (83 balls; 4 fours) before losing his wicket as the last man of that innings. India had a 56-run lead at the first innings fight.

Windies skipper Jason Holder grabbed five wickets and ended with the bowling figure of 23-5-56-5. Also, Shannon Gabriel (3/107) picked up three wickets while Jomel Warrican (2/84) got two wickets.

At next, Windies’ second innings batting were totally destroyed by the Indian bowlers as the visitors only managed to score 127 runs. Both the Windies openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell failed to open their accounts while only Shai Hope (28) and Sunil Ambris (38) reached the 20-run marks.

Indian pacer Umesh Yadav completed his maiden 10-wicket haul in Test career after picking up four wickets (4/45) in the second innings while he took six wickets (6/88) in the first innings of this Test match. Also, the spinners Ravindra Jadeja (3/12), Ravichandran Ashwin (2/24) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/45) shared the other six wickets of that innings.

India had a tiny 72-run target to win the game and win the series too and they clinched a comfortable victory without any damage as the openers Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul comfortably secured that victory. Both batsmen remained unbeaten on 33 runs as India reached the target in 16.1 overs without losing any wicket (75/0). `

With this victory, India won the two-match home Test series against Windies by the 2-0 margin. Indian pacer Umesh Yadav won the Player of the Match award while the opening batsman Prithvi Shaw won the Player of the Series award.
