Team India defeated the West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam by 107 runs and leveled the series 1-1. After winning the toss, the Windies skipper, Kieron Pollard again decided to bowl firs citing the chances of the dew. However, India made one change in the squad as Shardul Thaur came in to replace Shivam Dube. The Windies made a couple of changes as Kharry Pierre and Evin Lewis replaced Sunil Ambris and Hayden Walsh Jr.
Accepting the challenge, the Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul showed their class by adding 227 runs in almost 38 overs. Rohit Sharma emerged as the top-scorer for the Men in Blue as the right-hander smashed a quick-fire 159 which included 17 fours and five sixes. Rahul scored 104 runs off 102 balls without much of an effort. He looked in sublime form in the recently-concluded T20I series against West Indies.

After the departure of Rahul and Rohit, Virat Kohli was dismissed on golden duck by Kieron Pollard. However, two young stalwarts of Team India- Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant added 73 runs for the 4th wicket in just 25 balls. Sheldon Cottrell was the pick of West Indies bowling attack as he scalped two wickets but conceded 83 runs in his nine overs. With impressive batting performances, Virat Kohli and his already have laid the foundation of a win as no team has chased down a mammoth total of 387 on the Indian soil.
In reply, Evin Lewis and Shai Hope started things well for the team. However, Shardul Thakur gave the breakthrough by dismissing Evin Lewis in the 11th over. Despite the wickets of Evin Lewis and Hetmyer, Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran fought hard for the victory as they added 106 runs for the 4th wickets before Shami dismissing the latter in the 30th over followed by the dismissal of Pollard on the very next ball.

The game was nothing but over when Kuldeep Yadav took a hat-trick in the 33rd over as he dismissed, Shai Hope, owing to a brilliant catch on a boundary by Kohli followed by the dismissal of Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph on three consecutive deliveries. From 192/3 the West Indies 201/8 and eventually they got bundled out for 280 in the 44th overs and lost the game by 107 runs.
