Australia has visited India for a three-match T20I series that is scheduled to be commencing on the 20th of September with the first game scheduled to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Tuesday. Nagpur and Hyderabad will be hosting the remaining couple of matches.
India is currently placed at the top of the table in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings whereas Australia is standing at 6th place despite winning the T20 World Cup 2021. Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian side, while Aaron Finch will lead the Aussies troop. India witnessed an early exit from Asia Cup 2022 and will be desperate to get back in form with this series. On the other hand, Australia won the last T20I series that they played against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team won three matches out of their recent five T20I matches while Australia also won three of their recent five T20I games. These two teams have played 23 matches against each other in this format so far where India won 13 matches while Australia managed to win 9 games. Another good series is anticipated here between these two sides.
India will be eyeing adding a left-hander in the middle order. It proved to be a decisive factor for Rishabh Pant jumping the queue ahead of Dinesh Karthik when Ravindra Jadeja was injured. But with the availability of Axar Patel, there are the chances of change in the equation. However, there is still some insecurity regarding Axar’s batting ability.
Probable XI: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant/Dinesh Karthik, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R Ashwin/Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah
The strike-rate question could throw up the possibilities of a tinkered batting order for Australia if needed. They too like India could consider breaking the glut of right-handers in the middle order by punting on the likes of Ashton Agar.
Probable XI: Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Cameron Green, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Daniel Sams, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
Fantasy XI Suggestion 1:
Josh Inglis, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steven Smith, Suryakumar Yadav (VC), Glenn Maxwell, Hardik Pandya(C), Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel
Fantasy XI Suggestion 2:
Matthew Wade, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Steven Smith (VC), Glenn Maxwell, Hardik Pandya, Daniel Sams, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (C), Josh Hazlewood, Yuzvendra Chahal
