India-Australia ODI series to start from Sept. 17

Team India had a dream run especially after registering tour wash over Sri Lanka recently, in Tests, ODIs and the only T20I. The tour was immensely successful on all the fronts for Team India and skipper Virat Kohli.

However, now they will be locking horns with a more challenging opponent in Australia at home. Australia will play 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is with India at venues like Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Ranchi and Hyderabad amongst others.

Last time Australia visited India for a limited overs tour, it became a historic one as India won the ODI series by 3-2 and one-off T20I as well. In that series, Rohit Sharma registered his first double century in Bengaluru and Virat Kohli slammed fastest ODI century by an Indian in just 52 deliveries.

However, this time Australia will be visiting India after facing a Test defeat against Bangladesh and Team India will have a psychological edge over the visitors.

As for the Indian squad, some stalwarts like Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin who didn’t play in Sri Lanka series are expected to make a comeback against Australia. However, there will still doubt that KL Rahul will play at what position.

Rahul failed consecutive times against Sri Lanka, while Ajinkya Rahane was made to sit out of the 4 matches in order to give Rahul a chance. However, now that Rahul has failed, Rahane might get few more chances. But with Virat might favor his RCB teammate, Rahul could see another chance in the 5 match series against Australia.

There also certain chances that Suresh Raina make a comeback into the squad and Shikhar Dhawan might be rested.

Predicted India squad for Australia series:

Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (WK), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal
