Indian Women Cricketers to Feature in ‘The Hundred’?

A huge surprise awaited for the Indian women’s cricket fans as some of the Indian women’s players might be seen in action in ‘The Hundred’ tournament which will be played in the United Kingdom if the ECB can convince the BCCI about the matter in the inaugural 100-ball competition which will start in July. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, England and Wales Cricket Board is currently discussing on the matter with the BCCI about the participation of the Indian women cricketers in the much-awaited tournament.

Top players such as Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues etc. have earlier featured in England’s T20 Kia Super League, which has now been disabled now to make way for ‘The Hundred’, which will also have a separate men’s tournament as well. However, the BCCI earlier shared their willingness to allow the women cricketers in the tournament when they met their ECB counterparts last year in December but since then there has been no concrete decision taken on that matter

However, the meeting was attended by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and treasurer Arun Dhumal, as per the report shared. While the discussion is going on about women cricketers, BCCI is not agree with their male counterparts as it would hurt the IPL and also risk their participation in the bilateral series as well.

Indian captain Virat Kohli has also asked the need to “experiment” with a new format as well. Among Indian men cricketers, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh have expressed their interest in the Hundred where the off-spinner being the only one to add his name in the first draft in October last but he eventually withdrew after it was known that he would have to retire from international front and leave his IPL contract as well. he veteran had a great season with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings earlier in the Indian Premier League so far.
