After a dominating victory in the first ODI of three-match ODI series against the hosts England at Trent Bridge (Nottingham), India is now ready to play the second ODI of the series at the famous Lord’s cricket ground.

England vs India – 2nd ODI of 2002 NatWest series (tri-series) (June 29, 2002)

It was India’s first game in their historic 2002 NatWest tri-series tournament (England, India and Sri Lanka). After deciding to bat first, England put a total of 271/7 in 50 overs, thanks to opener Marcus Trescothick’s 86 and skipper Nasser Hussain’s 54. Among the Indian bowlers, Yuvraj Singh picked up three wickets.

In reply, after a good opening partnership of 109-run between the skipper Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag (71), India was in trouble by losing four quick wickets as they went down from 109/0 to 141/4. Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh rescued the Indian team by putting an unbeaten 131-run partnership for the fifth wicket that secured India’s victory in 48.5 overs after losing four wickets. Dravid remained unbeaten on 73 runs while Yuvraj Singh was not out on 64 runs and won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performances.
