In the 2015/16 season, India and South Africa produced one of the highest run grossing ODI series. This was the 4th ODI of the series with the Proteas leading by 2-1 and match was played in Chepauk, Chennai.

The pitch was a square turner, though Steyn and Rabada turned out to be the bowling mainstay for South Africa with 3 wickets each. Only Virat Kohli stood up for India, scoring 138 runs in 140 balls. He was well-supported by Rahane (45) and Raina (53), as all other batsmen failed against the pace of Proteas bowling.

India only managed to score to 299/8. AB de Villiers scored a brilliant 112which went in vain as the Indian bowlers, especially Bhuvneshwar (3/68) proved to be fatal Africa could only manage 264 runs and India won by 35 runs.

 5. Sachin Tendulkar 200*

Indian cricket fans will never forget this ODI match. The match played at Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior witnessed India scoring 401/3 batting first and South Africa was bowled out for 248 runs and lost the match by 153 runs, despite AB de Villiers innings of 114 in 101 balls.

The match was the same one when the first ever double hundred in One-Day Internationals was scored that too from the Indian Superman Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar made 200* in 147 balls with the help of 25 fours and 3 sixes.

Tendulkar broke the long-standing record of Saeed Anwar, who had made 194 against India in 1997, at the start of 45th over. However, MS Dhoni, who smashed 68* off just 35 balls stopped Sachin’s smashing innings. Tendulkar only came back on strike in the 50th over and scored a single off the first ball to reach the historic milestone, which took 39 years to be fulfilled and an Indian batsman was the one to reach there.

After Sachin’s double century, Sehwag and Rohit Sharma (twice) reached the figures of 200+ for India, but Sachin Tendulkar’s 200* will always be remembered, as it was the first score of 200 in ODIs ever.
