Accused Gulshan Walia, 28, Nipun Verma, 32, and Anil Oberoi, 54, and seven others were arrested during a raid at Bhikam Singh Colony in the Shahdara area, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said.

Another accused Afsar, 44, told police that he used to take inputs on gambling rates from Gulshan, who was operating from the Subhash Park area.

As many as 28 mobile phones and 20 mobile chargers and other gadgets were seized from the accused, the official said.

Two betting rackets were busted and 14 people arrested with over INR 15 lakh cash on Wednesday. The first racket was busted in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar and over Rs14 lakh cash was recovered. The second gang was arrested from Shahdara and around Rs 50,000 was seized.

From Patel Nagar, 46-year-old Gopi was arrested and INR14 lakh was seized. He made the entire amount from the first match held on Monday itself. As per the reports of TOI, a senior police officer said they were looking out for people running the betting rackets even before the 11th edition of the IPL started, but Gopi was operating discreetly and did not communicate much with his associates. A team led by ACP (Patel Nagar) Rohit Rajbir Singh was formed and several raids were conducted to keep a check on such activities.

On Tuesday night, the team was tipped off about Gopi’s activities near Lal Mandir, following which the house was raided and he was arrested. Gopi had hidden the entire amount under his bed and cupboards, police said.
