IPL 2018: Ambati Rayudu falls short against Umesh Yadav’s direct hit

During the 24th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu fell short against an Umesh Yadav direct-hit at the striker’s end. Yadav’s attempt finally brought an end to Rayudu’s promising innings.

After Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the home team in to bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 205-8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings was powered by AB de Villiers in its true sense, who ended up scoring his 25th IPL half-century.

Rayudu was short of the crease.

Playing the role of a floater in this season to a great effect, Rayudu was promoted up the order to open the batting alongside Shane Watson tonight. Watching wicket fall at the opposite end didn’t probably affect Rayudu as played an unhindered innings in a tough chase.

In which came as a huge blow to his team, Rayudu got run-out on the penultimate delivery of the 18th over. It all happened when Rayudu steered a Corey Anderson delivery to Yadav at short third-man. A slight fumble on the fielder’s part tempted the batsmen to run the second run which led to the dismissal. Rayudu failed to reach the striker’s end before Yadav’s throw. He ended up scoring 82 (53) with the help of three fours and eight sixes.
