IPL 2018: Andre Russell hits the biggest six of this season

During the fifth match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai, Andre Russell became the first batsman to hit a 100+ metre six in this season. After being put in to bat by MS Dhoni, Kolkata Knight Riders overcame a period where they lost a flurry of wickets to a time where they look set to post a substantial total.

In the first half of their innings, the Knight Riders were reduced to 89-5. It was at this point in time when Andre Russell came out to bat as he replaced Rinku Singh (2) in the middle. On the third ball of the 12th over, Russell began the proceedings by hitting an orthodox cover drive for a boundary against Shane Watson.

Russell hit a 105-metre long six.

On the second delivery of the 17th over being bowled by Dwayne Bravo, Russell sat down on one knee to and hit a towering six over the leg side. In what came as an amazement for everyone, Russell’s shot was a 105-metre long six. A new ball was required in the middle as the old one had been dispatched out of the park.
