During the first Qualifier of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Mumbai, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Carlos Brathwaite took on Shardul Thakur, scoring a couple of consecutive sixes in his third over and another two in his fourth over.
Earlier Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field. Making a solitary change to their playing eleven, Chennai brought in Shane Watson in place of Sam Billings. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad fielded the same playing eleven.
Brathwaite had come in to bat at No. 7 in the 12th over when his team was reeling at 69-5. Thakur was introduced into the attack as the first-change bowler in the fifth over of the innings. In the 18th over of the innings, he conceded 17 runs. In the last over of the innings, he conceded 20 runs as Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 139-7 in 20 overs.
Brathwaite started the 18th over with clearing his leg against a fuller delivery and hitting it over the mid-wicket boundary for a towering six. On the following delivery, he put on display a pull shot which earned him another six runs. Watch the videos:

On the third delivery of the last over, Brathwaite hit a Thakur full-toss for his third six of the innings over long-on. On the penultimate ball of the over, Thakur bowled a full delivery which hit with disdain by Brathwaite over the bowler’s head for another six. Believing it to be the last ball of the over, Brathwaite had started to walk after playing the shot. It was only after a few seconds that he realized that one delivery is still remaining only to witness a run-out Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He ended up scoring 43* (29) with the help of one four and four sixes.
