During the 11th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at Mohali, Chris Gayle made his first presence felt in the tournament after letting his team to a flying start.

After getting his eye in, Gayle took on Deepak Chahar as he displayed first signs of aggression in its true sense in this match. Gayle scored 22 runs from the 25-year old right-arm pacer’s over.

On the second delivery of the over, Gayle hit a towering six over long on to a delivery which was pitched outside the off-stump. The pressure got the better off Chahar as he bowled a short slower delivery which Gayle hit through the square leg region for a four.

Chahar did not improve on his length, bowling a short delivery on the off-side this time, which Gayle dispatched through the mid-off region. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Gayle hit another six down the wicket, accumulating 22 runs from the over.

Earlier Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field. The Super Kings had included Murali Vijay in place of Suresh Raina. On the other hand, Kimgs XI Punjab had included Chris Gayle and Barinder Sran for Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel.
