During the 56th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Pune, Chennai Super Kings’ fielders were seen involved in a comedy of errors where they converted a single to three runs.

Earlier MS Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field. Chennai Super Kings chose Faf du Plessis over Shane Watson in the last league match of this season. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab brought in David Miller and Karun Nair into the playing eleven in place of Marcus Stoinis and Yuvraj Singh.

Chennai’s fielders got it all wrong.

On a quick Pune wicket, pace and swing had made run-scoring difficult for the visiting batsmen. Just when Manoj Tiwary and David Miller were stitching a partnership, this error by the fielders aided them in accumulating two extra runs.

On the penultimate delivery of the ninth over, Tiwary hit a Shardul Thakur delivery to Ravindra Jadeja at mid-off. To stop the single, Jadeja took a go at the stumps. With him missing the stumps, the batsman ran another run as the ball went to Dwayne Bravo at square-leg. Bravo threw the ball back to Dhoni who let it go between his legs as the batsmen ran another run.
