Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) new replacement David Willey has just reached to India but likely to miss the Sunday encounter against Kings Xi Punjab (KXIP). Just a few days earlier, CSK has signed Willey as new overseas player of the team for this season.

Before the beginning of IPL 2018, injuries are hitting the two-time IPL champion team. After returning to the IPL from last two-year suspension, CSK has achieved thrilling victories in their first two games against Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) respectively. But, injuries are always remaining headache for the team.

At first, Kiwi left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner has been ruled out from the squad due to surgery and then recently Kedar Yadav also has been ruled out from the remaining IPL 2018 after suffering a hamstring injury during the tournament opener.

Apart from those, Suresh Raina is battling a calf injury and will miss the next two games. Due to having minor side strain and little fracture in finger, Faf du Plessis didn’t feature in the first two games of this season. Murali Vijay has also suffered an injury on his ribs after getting a blow on his ribs during the net session prior to the IPL 2018 opening match. That blow has forced him too to miss the first two games.

These incidents have forced CSK to sign a new player and they signed the Yorkshire left-arm pacer David Willey for this season. However, due to some delay in the VISA process, he arrived in India lately. Due to his late arrival in the country, it seems tough for him to feature the upcoming Sunday’s game against KXIP at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium (Mohali, Chandigarh). Whatever so, Willey is now available for CSK and might make his IPL debut very soon.

While Murali Vijay just has been declared fit for the Sunday’s game, Faf is also recovering from the injury.

Meanwhile, CSK recently suffered another huge blow after their home venue has been shifted from Chennai to Pune due to the present security concern in Chennai over the protest on Cauvery water issue. While CSK played their first home game in this season against KKR at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai), they will play their remaining six home games in this season at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune).
