During the 12th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at Mohali, DRS (Decision Review System) got the better of Chennai Super Kings’ Sam Billings. The wicket further dented Super Kings’ progress in a chase where they did not get off to the best of starts.

After being sent in to bat by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kings XI Punjab scored 197-7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Failing to cope up with the run rate, the Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals which didn’t help their case at all.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who did not bowl in the powerplay, came up to bowl his first over after the fielding restrictions had ended. The captain of Kings XI picked up his first wicket in the first over itself.

Ashiwn asked for the DRS.

On the fourth delivery of his first over, Ashwin allured Billings to play a sweep shot against his leg spin. The ball ricocheted off the batsmen to touch the boundary behind the wickets. After the umpire gave it as four runs off the bat, Ashwin decided to opt for the review.

The replays showed that the ball would go on to hit the off-stump. Additionally, there was no bat involved which meant that it was curtains for Billings’ innings. He ended up scoring 9 (8) with the help of one four.
