The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for the upcoming edition of 2018 has started at Bangalore and it will be engrossing to see how each of the teams finally shape up. Here is what the 2017 champions Delhi Daredevils are up to in the auctions.
Delhi started they auctions by getting back Gautam Gambhir in their squad. After helping KKR win two titles, he was let go by the franchise (during IPL retention) and they even chose not use the right to match card for him. Delhi acquires the services of Gambhir for INR 2.8 crore.
English batting superstar Jason Roy heads to DD for 1.5 Cr. Recently, against Australia, Roy struck a record-breaking 180 as England chased down more than 300. It was only a surprise that there were no more takers for him in the auction. Economical buy for DD who could be the X-factor for them.
Arguably the best buy for DD in the auction as they bought the Black Caps all-rounder Colin Munro for just INR 1.9 Cr. The only batsmen to score three T20I centuries, he has been in amazing form recently scoring at an average of above 40 with a strike rate of over 150.
Mohammed Shami has been retained by Delhi Daredevils after they used the Right to Match card for him. Shami was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 3 Crore but Delhi were having none of it as they retained him for the same value.
Delhi Daredevils have once again used the RT card to great effect as they bought back Kagiso Rabada into their squad. Rabada was bought for INR 4.2 Cr by CSK but DD came forwards to retain one of the best young pace bowlers in the world right now.
Amit Mishra has been one of the most uniform performers for the Delhi Daredevils over the years and therefore, Delhi has gone again for the leggie and acquired his services for INR 4 Crore.
Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indian were battling it out for Prithvi Shaw. But, he was finally sold for INR 1.20 crore to DD.
After an intensive bidding between teams like DD, Punjab, and SRH, Rahul Tewatia heads to the capital city after Ricky Ponting’s team won the bid at a whopping price of INR 3 Cr. The young uncapped star must be laughing his way to the bank now.
After missing out on Deepak Hooda, DD went out all guns blazing for Vijay Shankar and they bought him for 3.2 Cr. Vijay Shankar played for SRH in the last season of the league. Harshal Patel also joins Delhi after they bid INR 20L for him and RCB opted not to use the RTM card.
