During the 17th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at Pune, Rajasthan Royals’ K Gowtham displayed a replica effort in a bid to dismiss Mahendra Singh Dhoni cheaply. Dhoni’s wicket further dented the Super Kings, who were looking to go bonkers at this point in time.

After being put in to bat by Ajinkya Rahane, Chennai Super Kings got to a great start. Despite losing Ambati Rayudu (12) in the fifth over, the Super Kings scored 69-1 in the powerplay.

It happened on the second delivery of the 14th over when Dhoni stepped out to play the big shot against Shreyas Gopal. Not timing the ball as well as he would have liked, Dhoni ended up hitting the ball towards the long on fielder.

Gowtham, who was fielding at long on, jumped in the air to get his hands on the ball. Not catching the ball in the first attempt, Gowtham made sure that he does it in the following.
