The Punjabi team is one of the three teams that are yet to win an IPL Trophy despite playing ten seasons of IPL. Kings XI Punjab has been lackluster in last few years once their Maxwell and Miller stopped winning the matches for them. This Auction, they went all out and tried buying every player possible. By the end of it, it is hard to think that they fulfilled their wishes but they still possess a very good unit to battle.

Indian contingent:

The most impressive aspect of the Kings XI Punjab team this year has to be their strong Indian batting line-up. Borrowing the heavy batting line-up of the Karnataka state team, they have the trio of Karun Nair, KL Rahul, and Mayank Agarwal to bank upon. All have a strong T20 game and will be eager to perform and steal the stage. KXIP also has Manoj Tiwary and Yuvraj Singh, who will want to use this an opportunity to get back into the national side.

The bowling is led by one of India’s best spin bowlers, R.Ashwin. The supporting cast is a bit weak with the likes of Mayank Dagar, Barinder Sran and Mohit Sharma completing the side.

Foreign contingent:

They do not have a world-beater when it comes to the foreign players but the roster is bad either. One of the best death bowlers going around, Andrew Tye will lead the pace bowling attack. Stoinis will be the link between batting and bowling. David Miller and Aaron Finch will add muscle to the batting line-up. Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Zadran will be the surprise packages.

Player availability:

Aaron Finch will not be present for the first few games. Apart from him, no one else is missing for Punjab.

Kings XI Punjab does not have much flexibility in their bowling attack.They are likely to suffer in that area. At the top, they can try Chris Gayle and check if there is still some magic left. They have a brilliant backup batsman in Manoj Tiwary.
