After some ups and downs moments, two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finally qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2018. Recently, their captain Dinesh Karthik read some mean tweets which were targeted to him.

Dinesh Karthik – KKR skipper

Before the beginning of the IPL 2018 season, former long-time successful KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir wished to play for Delhi Daredevils, where he began his IPL journey. While KKR had won two IPL trophies under his captaincy, they respected his wish by not retaining him for IPL 2018.

While the Delhi franchise grabbed Gautam Gambhir for INR 2.8 crores in the 2018 IPL Auction, KKR bought Dinesh Karthik for INR 7.40 crores in that auction along with the other players. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman was not the favourite to become the next captain of KKR team as few dependable experienced KKR players were available in the squad.

But surprisingly, KKR management chose Karthik for that important leadership role. Since the beginning of IPL 2018, KKR has very inconsistent performances under Karthik’s leadership. Once they were getting up on the points table with the victories, soon they suffered a defeat which forced them to sleep down in the points table.

At the late stage, they were in danger but the team kept patience and won their last three round-robin games to secure their spot for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL. At the end of the double round-robin system in IPL 2018, KKR finished at the third position in the points table with 16 points as they won 8 games and lost the other 6 games.

Now, KKR will play the Eliminator round in their first playoff game and that will be against the inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens (Kolkata) on May 23.

Recently, the KKR captain read some mean tweets on him in front of the camera. While he replied those tweets coolly with just a few words, he also enjoyed few ones.
